A simple answer to a simple question - Twittering

After gaining a firm grip on the marketing side, businesses are now looking to master the art of communications – corporate communications. The focus is now moving from external communications to the internal flow of information.

The reason behind this change is that firms have realized that perception of a brand in the eyes of its employees is more crucial than its image in the eyes of its consumers. Why? Because recent failures in the corporate arena have proven this to be the case – in the long term, an organisation with unhappy employees can find it difficult to sustain a good image in the eyes of its consumers.

With many organisations struggling to maintain good communications with its employees, twitter.com has come up with a solution - asking people a simple question ‘What are you doing?’.

A social networking website, Twitter is aimed at providing a forum where people can share what they are doing, be that at home, at their desks or on the go, in a space of a mere 140 characters.

No, Twitter is not yet another website that you need to worry about checking and updating with streams of information – it’s simple, it’s easy, it’s effective and, crucially, it seems to be working.  By answering this one small question, people are opening up networks of trust and communication between each other – and all they are doing is letting everyone see what exactly they are doing.
